Prophetic Orthodoxy is a Christian doctrine that emphasises the importance of having a Christ-centred focus in all areas of life. This means that in order to live in alignment with God's plan, we must discern the brooding of the Spirit. Galileo and William Wilberforce are two famous examples of individuals who exemplified the transformative power of having a Christ-centred focus.
However, having a Christ-centred focus is not enough. Prophetic Orthodoxy also requires us to have ever-increasing clarity in order to discern the brooding of the Spirit. This brings a sharper focus on what is required to align ourselves with God's will. Prioritising our relationship with Jesus in every aspect of life is key to maintaining a Christ-centred focus. This helps us to recognise when divine favour has come upon us and enables us to live our lives in a way that pleases Him.
Speaking of William Wilberforce, he was a British politician and philanthropist who was committed to social justice. He played a crucial role in the eventual abolition of slavery. His example serves as a reminder of the importance of living out our faith in practical ways, working to bring about positive change in the world, and fulfilling our calling from God. There is always more we can do to make the world a better place, and Wilberforce's life is one to inspire us to take action.
The prophetic gift is closely tied to the ability to see the world with fresh eyes and discern the times and seasons in which we live. Those who possess this gift help others understand God's will and purposes for their lives. Pursuing justice and righteousness is essential for creating a more just and equitable society, as emphasised by the quote from Amos 5:24. This challenges us not only to seek personal transformation but also to work towards creating a more just and equitable society for all. In other words, as Christians, we are called to be agents of change in the world, and to use our God-given gifts and talents to bring about positive transformation wherever we are.
