Earth, wind, fire. These natural elements transform our lives, improving our conditions and preparing us for service. They persist through constant practice, repurposed for increased usefulness. They are gifts from nature, tools from the Creator to provide shelter, warmth, and care. Prophecy, tongues, knowledge (προφητεῖαι, γλῶσσαι, γνῶσις) similarly play a fundamental role in bringing the unsaved into the church. They advance the kingdom in hearts and minds, bettering humanity and raising the hopes of the dispirited and aimless. This evangelical spark can bring our unloved ones into the faith through various means, like a tract, a phone call, a hospital visit, or countless other methods. Faith, hope, love. These three persist. And for what purpose? To reach our unloved ones, to reveal the obscure sons and nameless daughters in due time. God uses these gospel truths to construct our tangible, understandable, and reasonable future. Before coming into God's love, the picture may seem unremarkable, filled with supernatural signs and wonders that confirm the truths we already knew. But after the perfect arrives, after the boy becomes a man, his new speech, thinking, and reasoning transform him. This transformation is not through the gift of light, but of sight - the ability to understand his identity and his God-given purpose right from the start.
