Spiritual Beings series
** “watching his sons sin themselves into faithlessness” … [Editor’s note: The backsliding of Eli’s sons is part of a systemic rebellion against the Almighty, whose authority was challenged from a region of the earth, ie, “gates of hell” which corresponds to the rebellion of the “Watchers” who cohabited with the daughters of Eve. Thus, ancient hostility that stands at the back of all human rebellion and backsliding. Man was created good and endowed with all the perfections of the divine Father who saw it fit to invite us into the redemption of the wastelands now under the dominion of the evil one. The rebellion of the giants had serious implications for the race that produced the nephilim of Gen 6.
This is the world-view that we will explore in our study in the Book of Revelation as well as the world-view of the biblical writers from Noah to Jesus to Paul. The sin of Eli’s sons was only the tip of the iceberg of human depravity. Sexual perversion, crimes of passion, seductions and betrayals, trafficking in persons, violations of freedoms, kidnapping, people smuggling, rise of tyranny, war and war crimes are all consequent to these and other rebellions that the enemy would seek to enslave the holy ones in addictions, jealousies, inordinate time spent of the useless, worthless instead of the eternal Word of truth found in the Holy Bible.
The research is scholarly and confirms what you already suspected all along. We are not alone in our rebellion there are forces in the unseen realm at play. We will study more in depth from the bible teachers such as Michael Heiser and others who have decoded and defined this apocalyptic understanding of angels, demons etc. This course name, “elohim” was inspired in part by Heiser’s treatment of the subject in the scholarly treatment, Unseen Realm.

[Commentary by BibleProject: “In the first pages of the Bible, we’re introduced to God and humans as the main characters. But there’s also a whole cast of spiritual beings who play an important role throughout the Bible, though they’re often in the background. In this video, we begin to explore these beings and how they fit into the unified storyline of the Bible.” ]
[Commentary by BibleProject: “What on earth is the divine council? Well, for starters, it’s not on earth! This biblical phrase describes the concept of spiritual powers that God created to have authority alongside humans... until everyone rebels and creates huge problems that only Jesus can resolve. We dig into all of this and more in episode three of our Spiritual Beings series.”]
