Would anyone be able to teach me where in the bible does it states the fathers are the priests / prophets the family?
(1.) The distinction between fathers and tutors in 1 Cor 4:15 points to this but discreetly “through the gospel” and includes “spiritual” fathers. The analogy is from the natural headship of the father extended over the family nucleus and, in Christ, by extension, over the ecclesial communities over which you oversee.
(2.) Likewise in the NT churches among the Gentiles, it is the primacy of the earthly father that we understand anything at all about the heavenly Father. The earthly is a type of the heavenly and ecclesial. Sons and daughters in the flesh are symbolic of how the Kingdom expands spontaneously by the operation of the Spirit through agents at the Family Gate in the same way that the human family grows and expands spontaneously through the monogamous action of the fathers (and mothers) behind closed doors.
(3.) The priests in the Tabernacle at the time of Moses belong to a levitical era under the restrictions of that order, between the ages of 30 - 50 years, of the tribe of Levi (Cohen today), given charge of the physical property and under direct orders of heaven not to own personal property or means to personal financial freedom.
(4.) These were “fathers” of the Israelite nation charged with keeping the tabernacle as Adam was charged to “till the ground (Eden) and keep it”. Thus both Eden and the Tabernacle are types and shadows of a coming NT family “fitly-framed together” in the love of God.
(5.) As a kingdom of priests, Israel modelled for the nations a unique entity not found on earth among the barbarians. They too had “priests” but these pagan fathers were never sons of the Most high. They were appointed by men to tend the fires in a temple made with hands. Many times they were committed to single-hood and celibacy. Often they were bloodthirsty warriors who were referred to by Jesus as the “violent who take it by force”.
(6.) The superiority of the New Testament concept of father with primogeniture and as prime mover within the family as a punishment to the wicked, the guardian of the values and freedoms we often take for granted and the conscience of the nation.
