The significance of revival urges us to re-examine the full-stops and periods that usher a pre-mature decline of the things of the Spirit that is ever progressing forward, upward and onward in truth. The sooner we come to terms with this reality, the greater our resolve to uncover the intent and agenda of divine favor and the deeper the impact of the advancing Kingdom upon the communities we serve. The life that overcomes difficulties and prejudices will be content in both fullness and emptiness, under the shade and cover of our own fig tree and vineyard. What provision and what guidance that awaits the soul that finds answers for ourselves, and the people whom God has given as our collaborators.

Such meat is too wonderful as we allow ourselves the liberty of such an ever-increasing pleasure in loving God. There is no greater honor than to avail ourselves of such an extravagant offer. The very anticipation of forward movement excites the soul to prompt and immediate action as resistance is overcome and ultimately fails to hinder. The work of God can only be resisted weakly and is irresistible in overpowering the flesh-life. More souls enter the floodgates that open wider to welcome the King of saints whose ancient hostilities are trod underfoot by the multitudes that yearn for a complete renovation of the way things are in that state of unregenerate coldness.

Influence increases in the right direction as our vision is lifted up in an ever-increasing liberty in the set time of God’s favor. Suddenness has always been a distinguishing mark of God’s presence when the Spirit comes in power. But this sudden appearance is usually itself a harvest of earlier events deeper and further back than current events that connect vast tracts of yesterday with the promise of tomorrow. This is a theology of divine favour that is inclusive of the various strains and threads that are woven into the tapestry of revival life. Ultimately, revival brings new life, creates order and establishes for us the work of our hands.
