[Editor’s note:
I want to share a "YOU ARE HERE" map outlining the progress of our missional church plant since its inception in the early 1990s. Like the blind man in Mark 8:24-26, the dates in this visual essay are approximate. A more precise and logical version can be provided by Lianne Seow. This is a broad, impressionistic view of Oikos history that will likely be updated after today.
Some of you were not yet born at the start of Oikos, but it's important to understand this history. Those in the Family Gate (Oikos) should know the events leading up to our founding and the revivals in the first decade, particularly the 1990 Filipino outbreak that led to the founding of the Filipino ministry (today's "Nations Gate Oikos").
In the second decade, another revival swept through Changi prisons and the streets and brothels of Geylang, leading to Geylang Bless God (GBG) during our Season of Service in the early 2000s. This anti-vice ministry has now evolved into a pro-family movement, especially since the revelation of "modalities" in October 2017.]
