Role Overview
The Registrar of Titles serves as the Chief Assessor for King's College Seminary, responsible for evaluating and ranking candidates according to academic merit within the GC2025 cycle and subsequent cohorts. This honorary position works in close coordination with the Chancellor, Bishop's Charge, and College of Pastors to ensure the integrity and excellence of academic credentials presented to ranking members.
Key Responsibilities
- Academic Assessment: Review and evaluate thesis submissions, project portfolios, and defence presentations according to established academic standards
- Classification of Honours: Assign appropriate classifications (1st Class Honours, 2nd Class, 3rd Class, Pass, or Project Accepted) based on rigorous assessment criteria
- Cum Privilegio Designation: Identify and recommend candidates for "1st Class Honours (Cum Privilegio)" distinction who demonstrate exceptional scholarship and readiness to serve as Senior Fellows
- Defence Coordination: Schedule and oversee thesis defence sessions during the submission window, ensuring fair and thorough examination of each candidate's work
- Credentials Verification: Maintain official records and ensure all thesis manuscripts meet presentation standards for display during the Night of the Dondang Sayang
- Advisory Role: Provide guidance to the Chancellor and Bishop's Charge regarding academic standing, merit-based rankings, and readiness for ordination
- Quality Assurance: Ensure that all written credentials presented to ranking members meet the scholarly standards expected of King's College Seminary graduates
- Mentorship: Support candidates through the defence process with constructive feedback and pastoral sensitivity, particularly regarding frontline Christian service experience
Qualifications
- Advanced theological degree or equivalent scholarly credentials
- Demonstrated expertise in academic assessment and programme administration
- Understanding of trauma-informed, scripture-based, and Spirit-led educational philosophy
- Commitment to the vision and values of King's College Seminary and the Seminary Gate at Oikos Fellowship/GBG
- Ability to work within tight timelines coordinated with the Bishop's Charge travel schedule
Term of Service
This honorary position serves at the pleasure of the Chancellor for the duration of each cycle (typically 3–5 years), with particular intensity during submission windows and credential presentations.
