Why a “7 Modalities” article now?

Many missional leaders know they are called, but they cannot name their default strength.

Romans 12:6–8 gives us a very practical list of seven gifts (modalities). In the 7Modalities paradigm, each gift becomes a “biblical archetype”: a stable pattern of contribution.

This article maps the seven archetypes in a simple, research-friendly way.

The core text (Romans 12:6–8)

Paul writes that we have different gifts, and we should use them.

The seven gifts are commonly summarised as:

• Prophecy (PRO) — “Discover”
• Service (DEA) — “Serve”
• Teaching (DID) — “Teach”
• Exhortation / encouragement (PAR) — “Enable”
• Giving / contributing (MET) — “Give”
• Leadership / governing (IST) — “Lead”
• Mercy / compassion (ELE) — “Rescue”
