The Nagasaki Magistrate's Tateyama Office has been restored and maintained based on Edo-period building plans and excavated artifacts. Restoration and maintenance efforts incorporate the traditional architectural technique of roof trusses for the wooden portions of the building and reference building plans and late-Edo-period photographs to determine details such as the shape of the roof and height of the eaves. The drawing room, audience chamber, and courtroom were also restored based on Edo-period sources.
