It was the capital of the ancient kingdom of Lydia, one of the important cities of the Persian Empire, and the seat of a proconsul under the Roman Empire. The city was renowned for its military strength, the wealth of its Lydian empire, and the splendour of its architecture, which included the famous temple of Artemis. Sardis was also one of the Seven Churches of Revelation in the Christian New Testament.

The Church at Sardis is a beacon of divine order and unity of purpose, actively engaging with the spiritual realm to combat evil, sickness, and death. It is a community that exemplifies godliness, upholding biblical norms to counteract iniquity and rebellion. The church is not just a place of worship, but a hub of resource organization for the common good, underpinned by a strong sense of management to advance its mission. However, the church is also mindful of the dangers of overlooking the marginalized. It champions the cause of the underrepresented, advocating for their redemption and the provision of necessary support.

Sardis, the fifth of seven communities mentioned in Rev 2 - 3 whose guardian angel Logon stood again paganism and pagan practices including the blood thirsty sport at the Colosseum and other Roman and Greek excesses during the early church especially emperor worship. This was the metadidomic genius at work from the time of the Caesars to overcome the madness of Nero and bring back society back to her senses through magisterial decisions of the court that corrected and resolved systemic and endemic corruptions in every sphere and industry including the private, community and government sectors. Here order and decency was planted in civil society and through the rule of law within the City of faith.

In the context of the metadidomic genius, the ancient city of Sardis can be likened to the 'neck' in a metaphorical body, playing a crucial role in organizing and directing the 'body' of the empire. Just as the neck organises neural signals up and down the spine into the head and controls body temperature, Sardis was a key center of power, influence, and communication in the ancient world. Its strategic location and political and economic strength made it a 'superhighway' for the flow of people, goods, and ideas, shaping the course of history and the development of the empires it was part of.
