Smyrna, Season of Service, signifies the manifestation of love elevated to its highest form through the dedication to exceptional service. This mirrors the actions of Jesus Christ, who, in His humility, took on the role of a servant to set an everlasting example. This act illustrates the profound humility with which a true Son of God serves, employing the remarkable skill of the hands to craft artisanal works that honor and glorify God. During this season, we are called upon to emulate this same service, to extend our hands and hearts in creating works of love that reflect our devotion and reverence. This journey encompasses not only the grand gestures but also the small, everyday acts of kindness that together create the intricate tapestry of divine servic

As we weave these acts of service into our daily lives, we not only honor the legacy of Christ but also build a community that thrives on compassion and mutual respect. Each gesture, whether grand or small, contributes to a collective effort that strengthens our bonds and uplifts our spirits. Through this dedicated service, we reaffirm our commitment to living out our faith in tangible, impactful ways, ensuring that the love of God is felt and seen in every corner of our lives.

This city, one of the seven communities mentioned in Rev 2-3, is particularly noted for its deaconic genius for excellence in witness, in season and out, in life and even in death.

Smyrna, the second of seven communities mentioned in Rev 2-3 whose guardian angel Telios (also known as Gabriel) stood against the spirit and man of lawlessness embodying the deaconic hand gift in the NT ecclesia representing the deaconic genius of artisanal excellence in the execution of the will of God. This is love perfected within the City of faith that implements with precision and declares the “Thus says the Lord” to interpret exactly which way to proceed either to the left or to the right or not at all.

The deaconic genius of Smyrna, much like the city's own story, is a tale of duality and depth. It's a saga of the city's struggle and success, its dance with the divine, and its dalliance with the doctrines of the day. This genius, in the prophetic tradition, is not merely a passive recipient of divine will, but an active agent in its articulation and actualization. It's a call to the city, and by extension, to us all - to see beyond the surface, to seek the truth in the morass of the mundane, and to serve the divine directive with a daring that defies the doldrums of dogma.
