Understanding the Husband's Role

Let's examine the husband's role, regardless of his elemental personhood. We’re looking at the Proistemic genius; this is the Prime Minister in the home. The example here is Yacob, known as James in English, but in Hebrew, it is Jacob or Yacob. He exhibited Proistemic genius even in an unredeemed state: he steals the birthright, dresses up as a hairy man, and deceives his aged and half-blind father (although I think Isaac allowed himself to be deceived). He remains in an unredeemed state, even bargaining and holding tightly to the Angel at Peniel. He wrestles with an Angel and says, “I’m not going to let you go until you bless me!” This shows the weaknesses and blind spots of the Proistemic genius. Jesus talked about them: the blind leading the blind. These are natural leaders who take charge and command. This is the husband’s role, not his archetype. In the realm of monogamy, where the wife is the queen, the husband is not the king. Many marriages break down because the wife is the queen. There can only be one queen, but the husband thinks he’s a king. However, if you study Modalities carefully, you’ll see he’s not. She’s the queen, and he is the Prime Minister. He was elected Prime Minister and can be unelected and deposed by the queen.

Prime Ministerial Role in the Family

This husband wears this hat regardless of his elemental archetype, playing the role of Prime Minister. Similarly, Queen Elizabeth played the role of monarch in Buckingham Palace while dealing with Prime Ministers like Winston Churchill at 10 Downing Street. For example, towards the end of Churchill’s life, he was re-elected as Prime Minister for a short while after the war. He had to kowtow to the young queen, who had just taken over her father’s role. In a movie about their interaction, the aged Churchill is shocked when the queen invites him to sit down for tea. Being a traditional British gentleman Prime Minister, he wanted to teach the new Queen Elizabeth that you never ask the Prime Minister to sit down. She asked, “Why?” and the wise Churchill replied, “Madame or Your Majesty, all affairs of state, even in a time of war, can be summarized in less than 20 minutes. The Prime Minister shall remain standing before the queen.” This dynamic is discussed by British essayist Walter Bagehot. I read his 200-page book on English constitutional monarchy in the Cameron Highlands, made notes, and realized that God’s wisdom in giving Modalities applies to premarital couples. I teach this course for premarital couples. If you’re getting married or want to profile a couple before marriage, you can have a private Zoom session with Lianne and me. If you’re going through marital issues, we can help you apply this. We have a session called the Rivers of Monogamy on how different archetypes come together under one roof: Christ’s roof, with the sacrifices and paradigm shifts each family member must undergo. We call this Proistemic genius. Proistemi is made up of two Greek words: ‘Pro’ meaning “in front of” and ‘istemi’ meaning “to stand up”. The Greek word Anastasis is a Russian girl’s name but is also made up of two words: ‘ana’ meaning “from above” or “upward” and ‘stasis’ meaning “static” or “to stand upright”.

The Life of a Proistemi Leader

This is the life of the president, the CEO, the one who presides over the team. Think of Donald Trump, a larger-than-life figure impacting his society and organization. This is embodied in Frank Sinatra’s song, “I did it my way.” The final lines embody this macho, unredeemed, theatrical leader-type alpha male who wants to win and be at the top. He rules to own, unlike the previous Metadidomic genius, the queen, who owns to rule. This is the CEO, the entrepreneur, the one who breaks through. This is the Ray Kroc of McDonald’s, who flies over cities, mapping out McDonald’s outlets. They are visionary expansionists, different from the next type we’ll examine.

Footnotes

John Samuel and Skip Moen: “The drive and urge to marshal people and resources to accomplish a certain task, vision or endeavour. Individuals will seek to preside over, delegate and/or deploy people and resources in a determined and decisive way by engaging the most efficient method or approach to achieve a goal or accomplish a mission.”
